aAron Munson is a Canadian filmmaker, cinematographer and multimedia artist. His work has taken him from his personal studio to war zones, high-Arctic weather stations, reindeer nomad camps in Siberia, and the Arabian Desert. aAron’s projects tackle extreme human experiences, both far from and close to home, utilizing film, video, photography and sound to create visual explorations relating to mental illness, memory, and the nature of consciousness.

– where were you born, where did you grow up, where do you live now?
Born in Salmon Arm BC, Moved to Edmonton on “Black Friday” in 1987. Currently living in St. Albert, AB.

My first film SublimitA was a B&W Super8 in-camera edit. It was made for a Super 8 Challenge workshop at the Film and Video Arts Society – Alberta.

– describe your current living space
I live with my partner, three children, a dog and a cat. Our 1970’s 1400 sq ft home backs onto a forest. The garden is growing. There’s always cleaning to be done. The kids are loud and hungry. The dog is sleeping. The cat is old.
