questionnaire:

In the history of cinema who’s isolation movie would you want to see?
Chantal Akerman or Jean Painlevé.

Favourite book to read in isolation?
I recently read Eisenstein on Disney and have just started New Dark Age by James Bridle.

Favourite music to listen to in isolation?
I listened to the aptly-titled (haha) album Quarantine by Laurel Halo a ton early into isolation. When I’ve been in a good mood I’ve listened to Doss, Playboi Carti and the new Charli XCX singles. I recently heard the new Elysia Crampton album and it’s the only thing I’ve been able to listen to since.

Favourite movies to watch in isolation
Hanagatami by Obayashi (RIP) is the best new movie I have watched in isolation. I watched it the night after his death and then again a few days later. As for “prescient” pandemic/isolation movies, my favorites have been Shyamalan’s The Happening and Abel Ferrara’s New Rose Hotel. I’ve also watched stray episodes of Land of the Lustrous for a serotonin hit, and ESPN’s The Last Dance to get my basketball fix.

What’s the last best thing you cooked?
reheated takeout 😉
